From the 2013/2014 season the Masella ski resort offers evening skiing every Friday and Saturday evening and on some bank holidays all through the winter.

13 pistes that are served by 7 ski lifts will be illuminated from 18.30 – 21.30 on Fridays and from 18.00 – 21.00 on Saturdays

5 ski areas near Barcelona to open Saturday 23rd November 2013 and ski season in Grandvalira Andorra to start in November 2013

The skiing season will be starting extra early this year in Andorra and the Pyrenees. After heavy snowfall in the Pyrenees in mid-November 2013  five ski resorts near Barcelona – Baqueira Beret, La Masella, La Molina, Vall de Núria y Vallter 2000 – plan to open partially as early as weekend starting Saturday 23rd November 2013 with between 40cm and 1m of snow.

Andorra also planning to open in November on Saturday 29th November 2013. Visit their websites for more information of which lifts will be open.
This means that the chances are very good that most ski resorts near Barcelona will be open for the Spanish holiday puente on December 6th to 8th 2013.

Christmas lights in Barcelona
The Christmas lights of Barcelona are called “Els llums de Nada.” and Christmas starts in Barcelona Christmas lights are turned on every year by the Mayor of Barcelona. In 2013 the Christmas lights ceremony will be on Thursday 28 November which is the same date as the annual Barcelona Shopping Night event, which kicks off the Barcelona Christmas shopping on Barcelona’s fashionable shopping street Passeig de Gracia

There are usually Christmas lights in more than 390 locations and streets in Barcelona with illuminations covering about 60km of roads. And the tower Torre Agbar in the Sant Marti district is also part of the Barcelona Christmas lights with a special Christmas light show from 18:00 to 23:00 in December and until 5th January.  The Magic Fountain of Montjuic will have a special Christmas water and music show in December which is free and can be seen on Fridays and Saturdays in December 2013 and on 25th December and 1st January between 19:00 to 21:00. The tower Torre Agbar in the Sant Marti district is also part of the Barcelona Christmas lights with a special Christmas light show from 18:00 to 23:00 in December and until 5th January.

15th to 21st August 2013 Festa de Gracia – Gracia Festival neighbourhood street festival. 17 streets in Gracia are decorated by their residents and there is a full programme of live music concerts and activities for families and kids.

The Sala Montjuic open air movie season in the moat of Montjuic Castle comes to a close at the beginning of August, but the ourdoor short film festival Mecal Air in on all August at Poble Espanyol also on Montjuic hill in Barcelona screening short films with a bar and barbeque. For full length feature movies visit the CCCB museum who organise Gandules 2013 – a series of free open air movies in the CCCB courtyard in August.
